Film Review: Beautiful Creatures (Film 1)

Yesterday I took a trip to the cinema with my Harry Potter obsessed friend, to go and watch the Beautiful Creatures, which is based on a book series. Beautiful Creatures is obviously the first book in the series. So this trailer of the movie looked really good, and we had been dying to see this film for a while. And we go and we do the typical movie thing and buy food and find our seats and just get comfortable. Like normal people would do. We were all excited for this film and let’s just say that our expectations weren’t fully met.

I think that the film was good but could’ve been much better it was like a version of the first twilight film the acting wasn’t all there and and it was a really good story line but didn’t make it as clear. It was a good story line but I would think that the book was much better I haven’t read the book yet but I will, that’s one my list of books to read. And I had also heard that there’s this other main character in book she plays an important role, she plays the same role as Hagrid in Harry Potter, but the thing is that they left her out, and they said that she will not appear in any of the movies. Now I think that’s a huge mistake to make because, I mean the only way you’re going to get more people to watch this film is by putting everything in it. And by leaving one of the most important character out, you won’t get as much views. The acting could’ve been better but it wasn’t that bad I don’t think.

My friend who came to watch the film with me thought it was a terrible film, and that she wasted her money. But I don’t think it was actually very bad, sure they could’ve done better, but it’s exactly the same as the first twilight movie and well, it got better throughout the films. I would recommend it if you haven’t read the book, but if you have I would just think that you’ll come out a little disappointed. But I though the story line was good and it does leave you at a bit of a sad point really. I thought the ending could’ve been much more clear. But I had actually enjoyed it despise the cheesy-ness  in the romance scenes. But I mean come on anyone would want a cheesy relationship it’s actually quite cool. Well let’s just pray that the second film will be MUCH better then the first, I’m counting on it.

Book Review: Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone (Book 1)

Now before I say this don’t judge me. I’ve never read a Harry Potter book nor watched the film till a couple of weeks ago. I had been thinking that Harry Potter was a boring book, and that well there was  nothing really interesting about it. I never really got why people got so hyped up about it. I said this to one of my friends and she just happens to be one of the biggest Harry Potter fans that I know (I’m not going to say in the world because I know that there’s worse out there.), she had creamed her head of about, the fact that I read a lot of books and had never read Harry Potter or had even watched the film. She had dragged me by the ear, only kidding she yanked my arm all the way to the Library and had made me take out the first book. She told me that I have to read the first one and decide whether I like it, to continue reading the rest of the series. I couldn’t deny because she can get pretty scary. I took the book home and let me tell you I was surprised within a week I had finished reading it. I was so very surprised of how good it actually was and well I didn’t expect it.

There are the three main characters Harry Potter (duh, the books named after him), Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. The other characters in the book and still as important but play evil parts and there are a lot of evil characters. This story is about how a boy finds out that he’s a Wizard and that his parents had died from the most evil Wizard of all. His aunt and uncle had been keeping this a secret for about ten years and had been mistreating him throughout the majority of his life. Now there’s another important character called Hagrid and he’s the one who comes to rescue Harry, from those evil people. The story is basically how this very evil Wizard called Voldemort in other words He-Who-Should-Not-Be-Named, is trying to get in power again and he wants immortality. And Harry, Ron and Hermione fight to prevent this from happening.

What I liked about this book, was that with most books you can always tell what’s going to happen next, but with this I found it so hard to predict at all what was going to happen. I mean there was just so much action, secrets were spilling out and well there was so much drama. I thought that J.K. Rowling had structured this book very well I mean it kept you on the edge of your seats at all times, it had never really let you relax, or it did but not for very long. I liked how she had invented a game called Quidditch at first I had no idea what on earth this was, but found it a very good game to play, and I thought it was rather creative. If you don’t know what Quidditch is read the book or ask the fans.

I don’t think that there’s anything bad about this book. Except maybe she could’ve tried being a little more realistic with the type of magical  characters and tried to invent something original, but that’s something quite hard to do.

Overall, I think that if you haven’t read it you need to, because it’s a sort of must read you can’t go through you’re childhood without reading it. If you’re not a reader you always have the films that you can watch. But I think it’s an excellent book and you HAVE to read it. You can purchase this book at Amazon. I would also like to say hats off to J.K. Rowling for creating such a wonderful book!

Life: End Of The Work Life

So it’s been almost a week since I’ve been back from my two week experience at work, and I got to tell you it was pretty amazing. When I told the people that I worked with that I would do this as a daily job, and that I didn’t mind and well, they called me mad and said that I should get out more often and I was laughing so much! Obviously they were joking, but it was still funny.

The people who looked mean actually weren’t, they were literally the nicest people in the world. And they would help you with anything at all. And I mean literally. The amount that I had called them over to help me is actually unbelievable. And yet they still came to help me, which was rather nice I think.

Then I also made a new work buddy who was probably the only person that ha kept me going, he was the funniest guy and he had given me the most work to do, I had gotten the most experience from him, as he had given me the most things to do. But unfortunately he was only a temp and should e gone by the end of next month, but my aunt(who works at the same place as I do) told me that there was no way he was leaving, because he did the best job and was way to good. This was a somehow reassuring as I was coming back in the summer, and if what she said was true then I guess work life wouldn’t be a bad.

I had the best time of feeling like an adult, as well I was taking the train which I don’t usually do, then trying to find a different route to get to work as trains have stopped working, having lunch with all my work mates and preparing lunch at home. This is however a lot of work and made me realise how hard my aunt works, and why she is so stressed most of the time. Which is also the reason, that even though what I did was easy what she did wasn’t, this made me realise how we can’t always get what we war and we need to work for it.

Life: Happy Valentine Or Not?

Happy Valentines Day! For those who believe in it and for those who don’t. Well there are so many opinions on Valentines Day and to be fair some of them actually have a point. I’m not exactly like Valentines Day is a day to show a loved one how much you love them, because in all fairness they should be showing you how much they love you everyday not just one, supposedly special day of the year. You should be shown that everyday in wry single possible way.

I think that we should go through the different views in order to balance them out. Okay so Valentines Day I think it’s only cute when you just take part in it for fun well partly for fun, not just for love. I mean, I think that it’s cute for someone to take you out to dinner and to walk you by the the riverside or whatever it is that you couples do. I mean its cute that someone would do that. And sometimes they can be really sweet, depending on what they do.

On the other hand, the first point that my cousin would have mentioned is that Valentines Day is just a big commercial scam. And to be fair it kind of is, I mean this is probably one of the most busiest times of the year after Christmas and New Year and well it’s all for showing how much you love a person, when in fact you should be showing her this everyday, I have mentioned this point before. I’m not saying that you shouldn’t skip a Valentine I’m just saying that you shouldn’t make your loved one feel special on only that day of the year, and not any other day. Make her feel special everyday, and if your girlfriend/isn’t fond if Valentines Day then that’s even more the reason to show them how much you love them.

So you see that the points vary out, and well whatever your views are on Valentines it up to you but maybe you should try it just once an let your beliefs slip out your head for just once.

Life: The First Month Gone

Can you believe that? I mean look at that the first month of the new year has gone! It has practically flown by so much has happened. Good things and many bad, but I guess that’s just life. So, I think that this has been such a hectic start to the year, well I don’t know about you guys but I’ve had such a rough start to the year. I’ve had exams straight into the New Year, then I’ve had Work Experience then my New Year’s Eve was spent with my family and on the same night had a heartbreak. And now well my best friend has stopped talking to me. So I guess my life’s all peachy. And well, my blog is here so that I can pour my emotions of my life into it, and I know that people are going to read it, but at least they can see it from this perspective.

Well, I guess we should start from exams, the exams that cost my future and I can only have one re-take and on one of the exams. And I have no idea how they’ve went and if I did good. But I can only hope. I’ve gotten to the point where I just really hate exams, I mean I was fine when they are spaced out but, the school has to be a bit of a fool and squish it all before work experience.

Then we have Work Experience, which makes everything even more the hectic because of all the exams that have been squashed in the week before work experience, then we have the assembly about it and then we have to prepare it so I mean it was just a bit rushed, but on the whole my first week at work was pretty awesome, I mean the people there are just so nice and are actually really hilarious.

Now, we get to my heartbreak over the Christmas holidays well, there’s not much to say about that, just that I wasted those couple of months in my life, which I may not get back. But of course everything happens, it happens for a reason, and some of which we might not enjoy, but who cares?!

And now, I’ve just practically lost my best friend over something that I am still not clear about. Yes I guess I sound really stupid, not knowing what she’s mad at me. But she wouldn’t say. I’ve practically begged for her back, but she’s made her choice. I mean I’ve best friends with her for about three years, and it’s just hard to you know drop something like that all of a sudden. I think for me it’s just a load of drama that’s not really needed but what can I say? Like, how can you forget someone who shared flapjack’s with you, I mean HOW? But I guess if that’s what she wants I’m just won’t bother any more, I’ll still be her friend if she ever needs me, but right now she doesn’t so I guess there’s not much I can do. Just that she’ll always be there.

So that’s my hectic dramatic start of the year for me, and let me tell you that’s a lot for one person to take in you know. But you know what they say, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. So I guess I’m getting stronger with all the experience that I’ve gotten I’m sure that, I’ll be much aware for the next time.
